El notario público de acuerdo con lo que establece el artículo primero de la actual Ley que rige dicha función pública, "es el profesional del derecho y funcionario público, investido por delegación del Estado, a través del titular del Poder Ejecutivo, de la capacidad de dar fe para hacer constar actos, negocios y hechos jurídicos a los que se deba o quiera dar autenticidad y seguridad jurídica conforme a las leyes".
