La deontología notarial es ciencia, porque es filosofía ética del comportamiento de una persona altamente calificada: el notario, como portador de una investidura que le permite precisamente "dar fe pública" y le impone una serie de responsabilidades frente a sí mismo, a cambio de que su actuar frente a la sociedad que cree en él y frene al Estado que lo ha ungido con la potestad fedante, se vuelva servicio y función pública, testimonio de verdad y prueba de declaraciones de voluntad, entre otras funciones.
